It is the mission of the St. Joseph County Emergency Management Agency
to coordinate all emergency management activities and to protect the
people, property, economy and environment of St. Joseph County and its
political subdivisions.St. Joseph County Emergency Management Agency is responsible for public
education, disaster planning, disaster response and disaster recovery. The
St. Joseph County Emergency Management Agency is not a Public Safety
Response Agency. While we provide no direct response service to the
general public we coordinate public and private services in order to
assist with public needs during a disaster. Following an event our role is
to conduct a county-wide damage assessment in order to qualify for Federal
or State disaster recovery funds that may become available.Through the four phases of emergency management: Mitigation
(Prevention), Preparedness, Response and Recovery, we work with all
County, City and Township public safety agencies to develop and maintain a
County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
The St. Joseph County Emergency Management Agency is pleased to assist
local Public and Private Organizations with:
Identification of Suitable
Areas for Storm Sheltering
Public Education Programs
