County Assessor: David Weslowski
The County Assessor serves as the Secretary to the Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals. The PTABOA reviews property tax assessments and reviews all tax assessment appeals.
The PTABOA is comprised of two appointments made by the City/County Council, one of whom must be certified by the Department of Local Government Finance as a Level II Assessor-Appraiser, unless waived. Two freehold appointments are made by the County Commissioners, one of whom must be certified by the Department of Local Government Finance as a Level II Assessor-Appraiser, unless waived. The fifth member is the County Assessor. (No more than three members may be from the same political party.) (IC 6-1.1-28-1)
The County Assessor advises and instructs all township assessors of their duties, is responsible for reviewing all assessments, real and personal, made by the county and/or township assessors, and has the same powers of a township assessor.
The County Assessor also acts as inheritance appraiser in the administration of the Indiana Inheritance Tax.

The Township Assessor is responsible for insuring that all the township’s taxable property, both real and personal, is assessed fairly according to State-prescribed regulation.
